Mind Potential Seminar - Fall 1978

In the fall of 1978 my Electronics instructor Lawrence Rodrigues encouraged me to attend the introductory lecture of this program. I then decided to take the course. (I believe I took the December 5 - 10 course. There was no November course.)

The course was conducted at the "Center for Mind Ecology" which was a large brick house on a large lot at 3900 Auburn Blvd in Sacramento. It was torn down many years ago and the land is now an apartment complex. (We relaxed on pillows on the floor during the lecture, as shown in the photo below. During breaks we drank herb tea.)

A top hit during that week was Al Stewart "Time Passages." I believe I first heard it while in the basement at the Center during a break, and the lyrics matched what we were learning. So that song always reminds me of that course:

I felt the beat of my mind go drifting
The things you lean on are things that don't last
Hear the echoes and feel yourself starting to turn
Don't know why you should feel that there's something to learn
It's just a game that you play
You reach out your hand, but you're all alone

The instructor was Dino Delano, who led us on guided meditations and provided other instruction over the six day course. In October 2009 I decided to Google him, and found his website and some YouTube videos.
