We visited the Louve, Palace of Versailles, and other sites.
A major attraction at The Louve is the Mona Lisa. This is all you see, crowds and a small picture way behind glass. The best view of the painting is to buy a souvenir postcard. This is the Venus de Milo sculpture. Venus de Milo is an ancient Greek statue and one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture. Created at some time between 130 and 100 BCE, it is believed to depict Aphrodite (Venus to the Romans) the Greek goddess of love and beauty. It is a marble sculpture, slightly larger than life size at 203 cm (6 ft 8 in) high. Its arms and original plinth have been lost. From an inscription that was on its plinth, it is thought to be the work of Alexandros of Antioch. We were impressed by the size of the paintings. Fit in the house? They would not fit in the garage! We learned to get around via the Paris Underground. One evening we attended a play or opera on this barge. Inside it is seating and a stage. This was during a heat wave. What i most remember is how hot it was inside there. It still operates: www.penicheopera.com
Going to the opera on a barge.
One day we took a short trip to Palace of Versailles. (We used this photo for our 1986 Christmas Card.)
This is the backyard of Palace of Versailles A fellow magician invited Jay to see a fog machine for rent for stage performances. Jay sent me to check it out. They put on a show with strobe lights and dancing girls trying to promote it.
This is one of the stained glass in Notre Dame Around the city there were artists doing art on the sidewalk in chalk, soliciting tips. But I think it was a scam. There is no way they did this with chalk. I doubt they had any artistic skill, the probably just chalk around all day on the printed image.
