Kim Berry - The Easy 1980's
Until fall 1980 I lived in Reno. My best friend at the time was Randy Howe. Here's a photo of us on my 1974 AMC Matador. (That might be Ken Stockford in the car):
This is me and my brother Jay in summer 1980. (I don't recall what I am holding.)
In 1981 I finished my AA degree in Electronic Computer Technology from American River College. See Education. During that nine months I lived with my grandparents. Here they are a few years later at their 50th Wedding Anniversary (Ed, JK, Frances, Ed):

My first job out of school was at Signetics, where I worked from June 1981 through August 1987. From 1981 through 1983 I played keyboards in the band Plan B. It was mostly a garage band, but we did play at several events. In July 1982 I traveled to Switzerland to see my brother compete at the FISM Magic Competition in Lausanne. In February 1983 I got married in the Philippines During the 1980's I worked part time assisting my father with his consulting firm Atmospheric Research and Technology. On July 30, 1984 I had to have Arthur-dog put to sleep. I had him since third grade (1967) and he used to chase on the motorcycles for miles in the mid 1970s. Now he could barely stand up anymore:
Arthur and Kim at Briartree, after first trip to Philippines in February 1983.
Here's a self-portrait of my bedroom on Briartree way, around 1983 - pretty boring without a computer or cable TV. (That is Captain Kirk with "Tribbles" on the wall behind me.)
In the mid 1980's Jay lived in Nevada City. Here is one of his performances:
In 1986 we took a three week vacation to Europe. My brother had an apartment across from the Notre Dame so we made Paris our home-base as week took excursions. We took the TGV from Paris to Lyon, then a convention train into Geneva. Stephanie was born in 1987, and Stephen was born in 1989 - See Kids Page. In 1988 I enrolled full time at CSU Sacramento to get a degree in Computer Science. See Education. In 1989 I worked as a co-op at
Hewlett-Packard in Roseville. |
