On Friday, February 4, 1983 I came back to the hotel after jogging to take a
shower. I could handle cold water – but there was no water. I went to the front
desk and the guy said “it’s only 6:30am – wait a while.” What? After about 30
minutes I asked if I could use the shower in a room on a lower floor, and that
dribbled enough cold water to wash off and put on my nice clothes:
We went to a high rise in Makati, which was, and still is, a modern, clean
financial district.
Jose pointed out one of
Imelda R. Marcos' limos – evident by her initials
“IRM” on the license plate. (At the time the Philippines was being run by the
Marcos' who had suspended elections and ruled under martial law.)
Here's a September 1982 photo of the Marcos' with Regan at the White House -
just a few months prior to my visit:
Mayor Yabut, a friend of Aurelia’s father and a well-known politician
figure, performed the civil ceremony in his office. I recall him saying things
like “being married is not easy…”

Unfortunately my camera was manual focus and was not set correctly, so this is
what it is:
In the evening we had dinner at a restaurant, joined by the rest of her family.
