AUSTRALIA ZOO - Crocodile Hunter Park

In October 2005 my mother and I traveled to Australia for my brother's wedding. On our first day we visited Australian Zoo, home of Steve Irwin - Crocodile Hunter.

On the way we passed a mountain shaped like a gorilla. (I missed getting a shot from the front.)

The Park was bigger than I expected. There were seats like this around three sides, then a large food court on the opposite side.

The alligators clearly were looking for a chance to eat the trainers. They had to be careful about turning their backs.

The kangaroos were tame

And the lizard posed for the photo

The tour bus driver announced my mother off to the right

It wouldn't be a zoo without some elephants.

The koalas were friendly. But we were warned if we got near the mouth we could get a bite that felt like getting hit with a hammer.

The aviary was a nice open area for many birds to fly around in.

We stopped at this fruit stand on the return trip. Unlike California, Pineapples and Mangos grow near Brisbane. I got pineapples for $0.80 U.S. each.
