Carmel - July 2008July 4th weekend we stayed with my sister and her family in Carmel. She rented the house that was used in a popular movie from 1971. It was interesting to be watching the movie in the same living room that Evelyn had trashed. We enjoyed the cool weather, visiting the beach a few times per day. We also enjoyed some good wines, like the Irish Vineyards 2004 Cab that I got at their tasting room in Calaveras County after we rappelled down Moaning Cavern cave two years ago, and an outstanding Cline Cellars 2005 ancient vine zinfandel. We walked into town on Saturday and got Tess a "Coach purse" at the "1/2 price outlet," and had Cima Collina wine tasting (San Carlos between Ocean and 7th). We were not happy returning to the hot, smoky (due to forest fires) Sacramento Valley. (Sorry for quality of movie stills - the only way I was able to capture them was to photograph them on the computer screen.)
Kim, Tess, Stephanie, Erica, Ingrid in front of the house. It has a rustic front fence providing privacy - there is no "front door."
This is the back of the house, with an entrance on either side.
Kim poses in front of the refrigerator. The view though the glass to the atrium is behind him.
Evelyn (Jessica) and Dave (Clint) in the same location in the movie, when Evelyn arrives unannounced to fix lunch.

Evelyn makes her way from the garage across the same stones
This is looking out the entrance to the pond. The sofa in the background is in the master bedroom, where Clint's bed was in the movie. The walls of the bedroom and the area behind Kim appear to be about 10' high glass.
Here's the view out the front window. (The house in front did not exist when the movie was filmed.)

The backyard had a tree house. One afternoon I fell asleep up there, listening to wind and surf |
