Kim Berry - The Yuppie 1990's
Only 2 courses from graduating I took a full-time job at Quality Medical Adjudication (QMA) in Rancho Cordova, CA in June 1990, then completed my BS degree by taking two evening courses in the fall, to graduate in December 1990. QMA had on-site daycare so Stephanie (and later Stephen) came to work with me, and Stephanie then went to the daycare on site a CSUS. After they fired my good friend and co-worker Tim Mahan for a minor bug, I decided it was time to get out. From August 1992 through August 1997 (exactly 5 years to get my full 401k vesting), I worked for NEC Electronics in Roseville, California. Unfortunately this Dilbert strip from 1995 reflects some of my experiences at NEC:
I composed electronic music through the 1990's as Six Sigma. And in 1994 I joined some other musicians as "Chainsaw." In 1994 I took a nice vacation in Japan. Here I am with Stephanie and Stephen, my grandmother and her husband Howard, at the 1994 Foley Reunion party:
1997 was a big year. I got my private pilot's license. My brother phoned me at work in July and said we was in Germany and would be driving to Dresden next week if I wanted to join him. I booked a flight to Stuttgart for two days later, he picked me up at the airport and I recovered from jet lag at his apartment. From Dresden I took a train alone to Prague, where I hung out for four days. In August 1997 I got a better job at Hewlett-Packard. In 1998 we attended Jay's baby shower in Las Vegas. We didn't know that some of the stars from the strip were going to be there.
